How do I clean my menstrual cup?Updated 21 days ago
HOW TO CLEAN YOUR CUP
- Before your first use, boil your menstrual cup in water for 3-5 minutes to sterilize it. Make sure it doesn’t touch the bottom of the pot during boiling.
- Our cup is made from 100% medical-grade silicone, so it’s designed to withstand boiling temperatures. Just be sure the cup avoids contact with the pot, so the silicone does not burn.
- When you remove the cup between uses, you can rinse it with cold water, wash with mild soap and warm water, rinse the soap off thoroughly, and reinsert or store.
HOW TO REMOVE STAINS
When properly cared for, your menstrual cup should last up to 5 years. But it’s totally normal for a cup to stain over time, due to the silicone’s natural properties. It doesn’t mean your cup is dirty!
That said, if there’s a stain or discoloration that’s bothering you, here are two techniques you can try:
- Scrub with soap and water. Sometimes, a good scrub is enough to do the trick. If you use soap, be sure to boil your cup after scrubbing and before reinsertion.
- Soak in lemon juice. You can also soak your cup in lemon juice, for a minimum of an hour. Then proceed to scrub the cup, and boil in water before inserting again.
While your cup is made from durable silicone and can last up to 5 years with proper care, we recommend replacing it every 2-3 years. Discard and replace your cup if it develops any tears, holes, or visible damage.
